OUR DOGS

A CHIC # means that the dog has had all of the recommended health tests for its breed as determined by the Canine Health Information Center (CHIC).  Each breed has a different set of required tests depending on which health concerns are specific to the breed.  At Lancaster's of Gold Canyon, our dogs are tested for more than CHIC requires and all of our dogs used for breeding have been fully health tested.  With Havanese, a CHIC number is not given until the dog is at least two years old.

THE GIRLS

COCO (DOB 5/30/10) - CH Beseme’s Standing Up and Standing Out of Lancaster

Coco came to us as a 10 week old puppy from Charlene Stoutsenberger of Beseme Havanese. She is full of charisma and love. In the show ring she turns on the charm. Her coat is like spun silk. It is so soft and never mats! Coco became an AKC Champion in March of 2011 at the age of 9 months.  She will be fully health tested beginning at 1 year of age and bred in 2012. Her adult weight should be about 9 pounds.

Addendum 11/6/11 - Coco has had all of her health testing and has passed everything.  She has been bred with Checkers and puppies are due in early 2012 if all goes well.  Her final hip x-rays will be done at the age of 24 months.

SMOKIE (DOB 9/22/10) – Lancaster’s Where There’s Smoke There’s Fire

Smokie is our home grown cutie. Born Black and White with Tan points, she is silvering rapidly. Smokie is the daughter of Tillie and Miki and has received the best of each of them. She is petite and fearless. She loves people and other dogs alike. She will be fully health tested before being bred in 2012. Her adult weight should be about 10 pounds.

SUNNY (DOB 1/20/11) - Lancaster's Little Miss Sunshine

Sunny is the newest and youngest member of the Lancaster family.  The daughter of Skipper and Miki, Sunny has Miki's lush coat and penchant for mischief combined with Skipper's love of life and her need to give kisses to everyone she meets.  We have great expectations for Sunny and hope to get her into the show ring in the next few months.

When Miki joined our Havanese family as our new “stud in residence”, everything changed for the better. Miki has a calm but friendly demeanor. He loves everyone and plays like a puppy with his favorite toys or his favorite buddy. He has unlimited patience with the puppies who love to tug on his thick hair and long ears. His puppies have been stunningly beautiful and are cherished members of many wonderful families. He is the sire of GCH, CH Lancaster’s Checkered Past and other AKC Champions. One of his daughters is working on becoming a Therapy dog and has her Canine Good Citizen certification. His coat is lush and luxurious – it is a work of art to behold. Miki was invited to participate in the Eukanuba National Show in 2010.  He is fully health tested and the results can be seen at www.offa.org.

CHECKERS (DOB 2/5/10) – Grand Champion, CH Lancaster’s Checkered Past THD

Checkers is a breeder’s dream. As a very young puppy he showed more promise than any puppy ever produced from our breeding program. Our Tillie and Miki are his parents. He started his show career at 6 months old and became an AKC Champion at the tender age of 8 months!  After resting through the Christmas holidays, and on the weekend of his 1st birthday, he became an AKC Grand Champion. Checkers’ true calling, however, is working as a Therapy dog. He has an intuitive ability that needs to be mentored and encouraged.  He has passed his patella, heart, eyes, hearing and liver tests.  He will have his hips tested once he is 2 years old.

(Addendum: Checkers passed his Canine Good Citizen test on 4/30/11 and has been officially registered as a Therapy dog with Therapy Dogs, Inc.  He now is a Pet Therapy Volunteer for Hospice of the Valley).

He is also recognized by AKC as a Therapy Dog and has earned the performance title THD in August of 2011.

JAX (DOB 1/2/11) - Giorgio Cubanese Biely luc

Jax came to us in October of 2011.  He was born in Slovakia and imported into the United States.  He is outgoing, friendly and has a beautiful coat.  His sire has a gorgeous red coat and we can't wait to see what colors Jax will produce.  He will be health tested once he's a year old and then become one of the Lancaster studs.

RETIRED

BOO (DOB 5/2/05) – Lancaster’s Peek-A-Boo CHIC #46112

Boo was our first Havanese and all our hopes were on her. Unfortunately, she was unable to safely deliver her first litter of puppies and had to have an emergency C-Section and spay. All five puppies survived just beautifully and Boo was a great Mom to them. She continues to live with us and enjoys her role as Grandma Boo. She helps us raise everyone else’s puppies now and has celebrated her 6th birthday in May of 2011. She is the mother of our Tillie.  She has been fully health tested.
 

TILLIE (DOB 4/13/07) – Lancaster’s Waltzing Matilda. CHIC # 57684

Tillie is the daughter of our beautiful Boo. Her sire is CH Cirrus Sampson Diablo the First (AKA Sammy). Tillie is about 14 pounds and she loves to eat! She is a pretty girl with a soft, silky and wavy coat. She is slowly silvering as she ages. She is fully health tested and has produced some amazing puppies including our own Checkers and Smokie. Some of her puppies are Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Certified while others are BFF Certified. Tillie has been fully health tested and the results can be seen at www.offa.org.  Tillie retired from breeding in December 2011 and will continue to live here with her family and enjoy her soul mate Miki and their grandpuppies in the years to come.

Skipper is the daughter of CH Cirrus Sampson Diablo the First. She and Tillie are half sisters on their father’s side. Skipper is the world’s happiest dog and she lives just to spread sunshine and kisses. She has been an amazing Mom to many puppies over the years. In January of 2011, while in labor, she had complications and needed to have a C-Section. She was spayed at the same time as this was to be her final litter anyway. Her puppies are kept meticulously clean because of the constant kisses. She is our alpha female at a whopping 9 pounds and keeps everyone in the household in line. There will never be another girl like Skipper and we look forward to her happy energy for many years to come.  Skipper has been fully health tested.
