The Havanese dog is a worthy member of the
Bichon family. The breed is intelligent, and has a tendency to
learn tricks quite rapidly. They are playful, and do well with
children, canine, and non-canine pets. Training should begin
at an early age. Havanese dogs are very easy-going. A quality purebred dog
will never show signs of aggressiveness. |

The Havanese dog has a long silky
coat that can be either wavy, or curly. The dog is double-coated,
which protects it from extreme temperatures. Both the undercoat and
outer coat are soft in texture. They are non-shedding and
hypoallergenic. The coat is never woolly. It is
light and comes in a variety of colors. According to the standard,
the Havanese dog may come in any color. No preference is given to a
particular color pattern. Though bred for being a companion, the
Havanese dog is never too fragile, and it is a fit for families with
small children. It has strong legs. The body is
slightly longer than it is tall. The tail is carried curled over
the back. |

Height ranges from 8.5 to 11.5 inches (ideal from 9 to 10.5
inches). Weight ranges from 7 to 13 pounds (ideal 8 to 11 pounds). Life
span is approximately 15 years. |

dogs are suited best for home living. These small dogs do not
need a lot of space. They have average exercise needs. Havanese dogs
